About Leebhongo
What I am currently doing with my small business
I am currently a student at Al Fidaa Foundation in Port Elizabeth – Gqeberha. The couroam currently doing takes a period of six months, to which I will be graduating from it this December 2023. At the moment I am focused more on making African traditional wear (Umbhaco), matric farewell dance dresses, evening wear, African print handbags and Nigerian (Gele) traditional doek.
If I acquired funding this is how I would expand my small business
I would get a bigger space for the business, then hire 2 seamstresses to help so that customer’s orders can be done quicker and we’ll be able to take on more work if we have more people helping. I would also do Xhosa traditional beadwork since it goes hand in hand with Xhosa traditional attire (Umbhaco). I would also get a professional social media manager to handle all social media accounts since I’ll be doing most of the marketing on social media. I would also like to personalise all business packaging with the business logo, to which is also another form of advertising and giving that professional feel.
How will funding impact my small business
Acquiring the funding would impact my business in a very big positive way, since the business still lacks a lot of equipment in order to function well. The sewing machine that I currently have is a straight stitch sewing machine and is unable to make other stitches and that becomes a problem at times. I also don’t have an overlock sewing machine to trim and neaten fabric edges to give that professional look. I have done my research on the prices and availability of all the equipment that the business needs. The equipment prices was all found at Ahmed’s Textiles website
