About Sprinkles & Smiles Cakes By Candice
What I am currently doing with my small business
Sprinkles & Smiles was established the year 2023 after i finish a baking course which was offered for free by Al Fidaa Foundation baking school in Port Elizabeth.
i am currently baking from home and also running a small laundry service that was started months before i done the baking course due to being unemployed and living of a disability grant only. i was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis just over two years ago and that changed my life drastically, i couldn’t work any longer.
The baking business has just grown from strength to strength even thou i face a lot of challenges regarding lack of equipment. i have managed to buy a few items so far, some new and mostly second hand. My biggest challenge is that i can only take limited orders due to lack of equipment. I’m definitely not where i want to but i will strive for what i want and where want be in future. I bake cakes for different occasions, cupcakes, biscuits, pastries, savoury and sweet goodies and i also do party packs/ baskets for different occasions.
My main goal is to spread happiness by offering distinctive baked goods that will create memorable experiences and shared moments.
i love baking, this is not just an hobby, its a passion it makes me feel good and definitely make me proud of myself each time i finish a product.
If I acquired funding this is how I would expand my small business
i would be able to sell more products.
Add more services and products.
It will boost my marketing which will help me gain new customers.
i would help me to outsource to other companies such as grocery stores; small shop; petrol; station shops and schools.
Develop a Unique brand identity.
Create more delicious recipes.
Establish a strong online presence.
Implement a effective pricing strategy.
How will funding impact my small business
Funding will help my business grow and develop, it will help the business get all needed equipment to run the business. Equipment will help to expand my services which means ill be able to take more orders and bake bigger quantities. bigger volumes of orders will allow me to offer job opportunities. My biggest goal is to supply my cakes and goods to grocery stores in future. Another goal is to give back to the community and by doing that i want to start a soup kitchen that will feed the less fortunate.
The funding will go towards the following needs of the business.
1. Side by side 555L fridge at Game Stores R14000
2. Freezer 195L at Game Stores R 4000
3. Stove with 2 x ovens at Game Stores R10000
4. Kenwood Chef XL 6.7L at Game Stores R6500
5. Baking equipment ( baking pans, measuring tools, scale, cookie cutters Etc.) R5000
6. Ingredients ( flour, milk, eggs, sugar, butter, icing Etc.) R5000
7. Packaging (Boxes, plastic wrap, baking paper, Etc.) R3000
8. Marketing ( Flyers, Business cards, Branding Etc.) R2500
Optional i would also like to get an Edible ink printer which would allow me do my own edible prints. the printer will also create another business opportunity for to sell the prints to other bakes which will only impact my business positively. the cost of the machine is plus minus R5000 and the amount is not included in my funding amount.
