About Sonja's Treats (Pty) Ltd
What I am currently doing with my small business
Sonja’s Treats recently entered the scones street sales market, selling prepacked freshly baked scones in the early morning hours to customers traveling to and from work and school. This is line with the strategy to grow the bakery division of the business which previously sold it’s premium quality products through online social media platforms to offering a quality low cost product to meet the high demand of this segment. This venture also has exposed the business to hire customer traffic, giving the business the opportunity to market its premium products to a much wider pool of clients that it would otherwise not have access to. The business is also in the process of marketing for clients for it’s outstanding catering services.
If I acquired funding this is how I would expand my small business
The funding would firstly allow the business to invest in much needed equipment and machinery for its bakery and general administration. The funds received would be used to buy items such as an industrial oven, mixer, refridgerator and freezer, and admin, branding and marketing equipment such as a laptop and printers (a normal printer, edible paper printer for cake deco, and a thermal sticker printer for branding). These items would help reduce the current long hours and high costs spent on production, reducing the physical strain on the production from using household ovens and mixers, increase the business’s ability to better meet our customer’s demand and subsequently grow the business. The funding would also help us invest in new growth markets such as training and development. The business will dive into the market of training the next generation of skilled bakers after acquiring this necessary equipment and machinery, thus opening a new income stream.
How will funding impact my small business
The funding will reduce the physical and emotional strain on our bakers and give the business stability as it will have the necessary equipment to serve it’s clients. It will also grow the business as administrative equipment (laptops, etc) will help us explore online sales and tap into a new client base. The business will have the necessary equipment for in-house branding, marketing and and advertising thus reducing the cost of outsourcing these services. It will finally give the business a competitive advantage and potential sustainability by improve its production effectiveness and efficiency.
